How To Win
Redefine success, outlast adversity, win daily

You've probably felt it before—that surge of energy when everything clicks, and you know you're performing at your peak. Or maybe you've seen it in someone else. They move through life with an unshakable ease, hitting their targets no matter what gets thrown at them.
Whether on the field, in the office, closing deals, or even crushing family Monopoly night, those with a Winning Mindset get the job done.
They seem to prevail, no matter the odds. When the pressure builds, they tap into an extra gear. And when the competition is tight, they somehow find a way to win, time and time again—even when the odds are stacked against them.
Some people with a winning mindset display arrogance and bravado that is off-putting to most, yet get leeway because they simply get things done when it matters most.
Others with a Winning Mindset project a much more quiet confidence that seems to rub off on those around them.
Either way, someone with a Winning Mindset is easy to spot, even if you can't quite define it. People look at them and say;
"They just know how to win."
Most people with a Winning Mindset can't define it themselves because it's not something they crafted consciously; it's more of a product of circumstance.
Here's the thing, though—you don't need to leave it to chance. A Winning Mindset doesn't need to be something that just "happens" through luck or circumstance. It can be defined, installed, and applied deliberately to every area of your life.
Defining a Winning Mindset
So, what exactly is a Winning Mindset? Here's how I define it:
A Winning Mindset is the conviction that you will succeed despite adversity.
Let's break this definition down:
Conviction...
...is more than just hope or belief. It's a deep-rooted certainty that you'll find a way to succeed, no matter your obstacles. Major accomplishments require this kind of unwavering belief.
Winners are convinced they will succeed, while others just WISH they will.
Major accomplishments are always logically unrealistic.
Of the children who dream of becoming a professional athlete, less than 1% of 1% achieve it.
20% of businesses fail in their first year, 50% fail by year 5, and 70% fail by year 10, and only a tiny percentage of those are ones that we would consider highly successful.
Every breakthrough the world has had or will have has seemed impossible at some point, and if it weren't for those with a Winning Mindset, there would be no progress.
The first step to victory is simply the belief that winning is possible. The stronger your conviction is, the more effort your subconscious will expend to achieve it. You simply won't give your best if you expect to fail.
There is a spectrum of expectations, and winners tend to win because they are at the top end of that spectrum and, in turn, are able to tap into their highest levels of performance.
If deep down you believe that you will fall short, then it's just not logical to expend energy on a futile effort.
Those with a Winning Mindset have a deep conviction that they will succeed, which gives them permission to tap into their full potential.
Succeeding...
... isn't always about being first. Winning is a relative concept.
You can win without finishing first and you can not succeed, even if you win.
Winning outcomes are often outside our control, yet winning performances are very much in our sphere of influence.
Success is a term you must define for yourself, and many fail to develop a winning mindset because they let the world define it for them.
In spite of adversity...
...means understanding that challenges and setbacks are inevitable.
Winning requires being comfortable with the idea of failing along the way; understanding that things will not always be easy.
In fact, they rarely ever are.
A Winning Mindset is about holding the conviction that you will succeed while embracing the high probability you will fall short...for now.
Winners embrace failure as part of the process—they know it's only temporary and never final.
Installing a Winning Mindset
Here are some action steps to start installing a winning mindset today:
Develop a Commitment to Conviction
Dedicate time to developing and reinforcing your belief in your ability to succeed. The Primed Mind app makes this as easy as pushing a button. The Winning Mindset Uprgade (found in the Mindset Upgrades section) gives you a seven-day program to get the ball rolling. In addition, work on identifying and eliminating subconscious doubts through work on your own or with a coach who specializes in this area.
Define What Success Means to You.
Take a moment to reflect on an area of your life—your career, relationships, or personal goals. Ask yourself: What does success look like in this area? Write down your definition of winning for that part of your life. Remember, success is personal and should align with your vision and values. Once you have your definition of success, break it down into items you can take action on daily. Consistency is the foundation of winning. If you set things up correctly, you should be able to sleep each night feeling like you've won the day.
Shift Your Perspective on Adversity
The next time you encounter a setback, pause and ask yourself:
What is the lesson I can take from this? What can I do to avoid this mistake in the future? What part of this failure can I reframe into a victory?
Reframing setbacks as opportunities strengthens your resilience and keeps you on the path to success.
Everyone has the potential to be a winner. It starts with conviction, persists through adversity, and compounds with your daily decisions and actions.
The question is: Are you ready to start winning?
See you next week,
